About me

I’m an arts, culture and technology journalist living in Portland, Oregon, after spending a few years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I’ve written for the Guardian (UK), Entertainment Weekly, the Los Angeles Times, Budget Travel, the Village Voice, the Oregonian, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Believer, and the Associated Press. A feature I wrote on video game testing was Seattle Weekly’s most popular story of 2007 and recently was named Best Science/Health Story by the NW Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. The New York Times just randomly quoted an article I wrote for Psychology Today.

In addition to my freelance work, I’m working on a book proposal about vacations and traveling and improving my Spanish.

This blog is a repository for thoughts and ideas that have yet to make it into article form, focusing on my passions about technology’s influence on culture, and behavior. Narrative fidelity refers to a story’s ability not just to hang together or sound good, but to ring true and be regarded as truthful and humane. Why? The internet’s got enough crap on it.

Feel free to email me at any time.
